The house view

Most buyers want your business. We want to keep it. A permanent home for businesses that already work. We buy one good business at a time. We keep the name on the door, the crew on the payroll, and the customers who made it worth buying. Then we make it known. The owner gets paid at close, and gets their life back.

Changkum · Founded in Atlanta
00 — The name

ຊ້າງຄຳ. The golden elephant.

Changkum is chang kham. ຊ້າງ (chang) is elephant. ຄຳ (kham) is gold. Noun first, the way Lao says it: an elephant, made of gold. Strength that carries the load, and value that does not fade.

chang · elephant

Strong enough
to carry it.

An elephant carries the load, lives long, moves with its herd and never forgets. That is how we own a business. We hold it for decades, we keep the crew together, and we do not forget the name that built it.

Held long · the herd stays · the name stays
kham · gold

Paid what it’s worth.
Paid now.

Gold does not need a pitch to hold its value, and a business that already works should not need one to get paid. A written offer, typically within ten business days of clean numbers, payment at close, and then we grow what it is worth.

Paid at close · value grown
chang kham · the golden elephant

Rare, and treated
that way.

In the Buddhist kingdoms of Southeast Asia, a rare elephant was a sign of royal power and prosperity, honoured rather than worked into the ground. A profitable, owner-built business is just as rare. We buy one at a time, and we treat it like the rare thing it is.

One business at a time
ຊ້າງ (chang) — elephant. ຄຳ (kham) — gold. Lao.
You do not buy a golden elephant to sell it next year.

Most buyers in this market are flippers, roll-ups and funds on a five-year clock. We are not. A golden elephant is something you keep, look after, and are proud to be seen with.

That is the deal with every owner who sells to us: the strength to carry what you built, and gold for the years it took to build it.

01 — Two ways in

Ready to sell, or not quite yet?

Most owners start thinking about selling a year or more before they do. So we built two doors. Both lead to the same house.

For owners who are done

Sell to Changkum

We buy the whole business, hold it, and keep it running under its own name. You get paid and you get out.

  • Written offer, typically within ten business days of clean numbers
  • All cash, or a higher price with a 10–20% seller note
  • Three to twelve months of transition, part time if you like
Start the conversation
For owners who are not ready

Grow it first

We run the engine on your business now: story, film, search, reviews and follow-up. You grow what it is worth. When you are ready, you already know the buyer.

  • The same marketing engine we run on companies we own
  • Built for trades, routes and service businesses
  • Terms set per business, with a first conversation when you sell

pass on.

  • Anything that depends on one customer for more than half the revenue.
  • Brokered auctions with a deadline and fifteen other bidders.
  • Businesses with a tax return that does not match the story.

06 — Straight answers

What owners actually ask.

Will you keep my people?
Yes. The crew is most of what we are buying. We do not buy a business to gut it. If someone on your team is the reason the business works, we want them to stay and we will pay to keep them.
Do I have to carry a note?
No, but we will offer it. A seller note of 10 to 20 percent usually gets you a higher total price, because it tells us you believe in the numbers. If you want all cash and a clean break, say so on the first call and we will price it that way.
Can I stay on for a while?
Yes. A three to twelve month transition is normal, and it can be part time. Some sellers want to hand over the keys and leave. Some want to stay a year. Both work.
How long does it take?
Forty-five to sixty days from signed letter of intent to closing, assuming clean books and a landlord who cooperates. The offer itself typically comes within ten business days of us seeing real numbers.
What if I’m not ready to sell?
Then grow first. We can run the same marketing engine we use on our own companies on yours today. You build what the business is worth, and when you are ready to sell, you already know the buyer.
What do you need to make an offer?
Three years of business tax returns, a year-to-date profit and loss, a list of your top customers with percentages, and a rough headcount. That is enough to put a number on paper.
Will you ever sell my business?
That is not the plan. We buy to hold, and we intend to be the last owner your business needs. Every deal is its own written agreement, and anything you want promised should be in it.
What happens to the name?
It stays. The sign, the trucks, the Google listing, the phone number, the reputation. An elephant does not forget a name. We buy businesses with a name worth keeping, and changing it would throw away the thing we paid for.
07 — Private enquiry
